Important information for all patients registered with Dr Cathy O’Leary
Notification of change to named accountable GP
On 31st December 2019, your existing named accountable GP, Dr Cathy O’Leary, left the practice as a Partner to relocate and is no longer undertaking any work at Thornhills.
We are pleased to confirm that with immediate effect all patients previously allocated to Dr Cathy O’Leary as their named accountable GP have been re-allocated to Dr Mary Jauregui and she will be your new named accountable GP.
Below you will find a short question and answer section to address any concerns patients may have about their continuity of care.
- Why am I being told I have a new named accountable GP?
Dr Cathy O’Leary, will no longer be undertaking any work at Thornhills and the practice is required by the Government under the terms of the latest GP contract to allocate all patients (including children) a named accountable GP who will have overall responsibility for their care and support.
- Who will be my new named accountable GP?
Dr Mary Jauregui will be your new named accountable GP. This will not prevent you from seeing other GP’s at the Practice.
- Who is Dr Mary Jauregui?
Dr Mary Jauregui is a part-time GP Partner at Thornhills and has been with us since 2017, she became a Partner in February 2020.
- Can I choose an alternative named accountable GP?
Not at Thornhills. This is because each GP has reached their maximum number of allocated patient’s at the practice and to ensure patient safety these levels cannot be exceeded. However, you do have the choice to register with a different surgery that covers your area.
- Can I expect the same standard of care from my new GP?
You can be assured that your new doctor will make every effort to become quickly conversant with your medical history and although she may work slightly differently to Dr Cathy O’Leary, you can expect the same high standard of care that you have received in the past.
