Important Notice to all patients registered at Thornhills Medical Practice

Clinical system upgrade February 2021

We are pleased to announce that Thornhills Medical Practice will be undergoing a full clinical system upgrade in February 2021. We will be switching clinical systems from Vision to EMIS Web. This upgrade will bring additional benefits to both the practice and patients.

This is a major piece of work for the practice team and we ask for your help, support and patience.  The changeover process is being carefully prepared, however will unavoidably result in some disruption to services leading up to and during the ‘Go-Live’ weeks. Please consider whether your phone call to the practice is essential over this time. The lines will be busy, and we need to ensure that those with urgent medical concerns can get through.

What will happen?

From Monday 25th January 2021 for repeat medication prescribing, the practice will be issuing double prescriptions in order to avoid repeats becoming due at critical points in the changeover period.

Thursday 4th February 2021 – our current clinical system will be turned off to allow for the final extraction of data to EMIS Web. During this time we will have no access to any clinical system and we will offer a limited ‘emergency’ service. We will only be issuing essential prescriptions.

Friday 5th February 2021 to Wednesday 10th February 2021 – we will have no access to a live clinical system and there will be intermittent disruption. Routine non urgent services will be limited during this time.  We will only be issuing essential prescriptions. Any new patient registrations will not be processed until after the go live date.

Thursday 11th February 2021 – “Go Live” day. We will have access to the new clinical system; however routine non urgent services will be limited during this time to allow for crucial preparations and staff training.

First few weeks - despite training and preparation, there is no doubt that we are going to be slower and we ask that you please be patient with our staff as they get to grips with the new system and some services my take longer to process than normal.
