Assistant Manager

  • Hours: Full Time - 37 per week
  • Salary: depending on experience - up to £33,472 a year

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Assistant Manager to join our friendly and supportive team at Thornhills Medical Practice.  

The successful post holder will be responsible for certain management aspects of Thornhills Medical Practice under the direction of the Practice Manager and Partners. Acting as central point of contact for the practice team and for providing effective supervision and leadership, you will have responsibilities to ensure the quality delivery of day-to-day non-medical services delivered by the practice.  You will manage and coordinate various aspects of practice functionality, motivating and managing staff, patient services, premises and health and safety management.

Essential skills

  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
  • Previous experience of leading and managing people in a fast paced patient service setting. 
  • A proven history of developing the skills and confidence of a team and team members to fulfil their potential. 
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with your team.
  • Ability to assertively manage difficult conversations with team members and patients.
  • Ability to confidently and continuously challenge the ‘status-quo’ and effectively manage conflicting priorities in the workplace.
  • Ability to contribute to improving access for patients, including managing change, developing new systems and procedures. Patient Services Advisors - Full & Part time positions

We are looking for experienced Patient Services Advisors to join our friendly reception team at Thornhills Medical Practice.

We have a variety of hours, shifts and days available. Each shift consists of 5 hours per shift, Monday to Friday from either 8:00am to 1:00pm or 1:00pm to 6:00pm or 1.30pm to 6:30pm. This may include some double shifts on some days.  You will also be required to cover on some occasions evenings and weekends to assist with enhanced access and other clinics.

The successful post holder will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception and administrative duties. Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting and guiding patients in the best use of resource within the practice and in the wider NHS, enabling them to access the most effective help for their presenting need, booking appointments, processing of information, acting as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.  Training will be provided however as a minimum, customer service experience and excellent communication (oral and written) are essential.   Experience of working in a GP surgery is desirable. You must work as part of a team, have the ability to adapt and embrace positively to change and observe strict rules about confidentiality at all times.
